If you are having issues with games not loading (usual symptom is a black box where the game should be), then try clearing your cache.

If the game page says that you need Adobe Flash 9 or higher, and you believe you already have it, then try re-installing Flash.

If you use a Macintosh, and scores do not always save correctly, please read this.

Clear your cache

Sometimes your computer keeps a copy of the game, but the copy is invalid for some reason.  To fix this, you have to clear your browser cache so it can download a new copy.

Internet Explorer version 7:

  1. Click on Tools in the menu bar, and select Internet Options.
  2. Make sure the General tab is selected.
  3. Look in the Browsing History section, and click Delete.
  4. Look in the Temporary Internet Files section, and click on Delete Files.
  5. Finally, restart your computer and try loading the games again.

Internet Explorer version 6:

Some older versions of Internet Explorer have different menus.
  1. Click on Tools in the menu bar, and select Internet Options.
  2. Make sure the General tab is selected.
  3. Look in the Temporary Internet Files section, and click on Delete Files.
  4. Then click OK to delete the temporary files.
  5. Finally, restart your computer and try loading the games again.

Firefox:

  1. Click on Tools in the menu bar.
  2. Click on Clear Private Data to delete all the temporary copies of the games.
  3. Finally, restart your computer and try loading the games again.

Safari:

  1. Click on Safari in the menu bar, and select Empty Cache.
  2. Then click Empty to clear the cache.
  3. Finally, restart your computer and try loading the games again.

If the games still don't work after restarting your computer, try reinstalling flash with the instructions below.

Uninstall and then Re-install Flash

Sometimes, your Flash plugin can become corrupted, and MindJolt is unable to read the version.

A good test of what version your Flash says it is, can be found by clicking on this link: http://www.bobbyvandersluis.com/swfobject/testsuite_2_1/test_api_getflashplayerversion.html

Your Flash plugin needs to be version 9 or newer.  Sometimes, even if it says it is a high enough version, there can still be some sort of corruption.

The only way to fix a corrupted Flash plugin is to completely uninstall it, and then reinstall it again.

Uninstall Flash

  1. Go to http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157 and follow the instructions.
  2. Restart your computer

Re-install Flash

  1. Go to http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer and follow the instructions.

You should now have a clean and up-to-date version of Flash.

Try another browser

If you're still having problems after clearing your cache, try playing the games on a different MindJolt Site.  This will let us know if you're only having problems on one site.

If the games work on one site, but not another, then the problem may have something to do with your browser settings for that site.  Please try the same games in a different browser.  (If you're using Internet Explorer, try Firefox.  If you're using Firefox, try Internet Explorer.)

Scores not saving on Macintosh computers

Macintosh users with Flash 10.0.32.18 can sometimes have problems submitting scores in some of our games.  When this happens, the only way to fix the problem is to restart your computer.

Unfortunately, the problem is a bug in the newest version of Adobe Flash 10.0.32.18 that only affects Mac users.

See: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=flash+10.0.32.18+mac+localconnection+problems

Some, but not all of our games use LocalConnection.

What this means is that Mac users with Flash 10.0.32.18 will sometimes have problems submitting scores in the games that use LocalConnection.

The problem only happens after a period of time.  It can be reset by restarting your computer.  However, the problem will likely return after some time, and require another restart to fix.

We are hoping Adobe will come out with a fix to this problem for Mac users very soon. (Mac users with an earlier version of flash will not have this problem.)
